The Rise and Fall of the Soviet Union

For my research paper, I intend to examine the collapse of the Soviet Union and how the aftermath impacted today’s international society. Throughout my research, I plan to discuss how the Soviet Union originated and how it evolved. I also will discuss the result of the 1989 Revolutions, which was one of the key factors that ended communist rule in Central and Eastern Europe. I also will give a brief biography about Mikhail Gorbachev, who was a prominent figure during the final years of the Soviet Union, and how he implemented a “glasnost” policy within the reconstruction era of the Soviet Union (“perestroika”). Lastly, I will incorporate how the Cold War originated and how its result affected not only American society but of the world.
