Public health relate to Chicano/Latino community

Public health has been defined as “the science and art of preventing
disease, prolonging life and promoting human health through organized efforts and
informed choices of society, organizations, public and private, communities and
individuals. Analyzing the health of a population and the threats, challenges, and barriers
it faces is the basis for public health. The public can be as small as a handful of people or
as large as a village or an entire city; in the case of a pandemic it may encompass several
continents. The concept of health takes into account physical, Spiritual, emotional,

Over the course of this semester, the readings, lectures, group project research, videos,
and other learning tools are intended to provide a wide range of information and
perspective to demonstrate the many core concepts related to Chicano/Latino Health
and Wellness. Chicano/Latino Health is intricately interconnected, culturally specific, and
relevant to the experience of all living in the United States and Northern Hemisphere.
Assignment: For this assignment, you are required to demonstrate your understanding of
the following concepts and themes based on the readings, lectures, group project
research, videos, and other learning tools (references must be sited)
