Read through the Afrocentric Initiative and Multicultural Studies sections in Karenga’s text also read the article on Arthur Schlesinger and the article by James Banks on The Culture Wars, Race and Education both posted on iLearn. As you read, compare and contrast the arguments about Afrocentricity and multiculturalism as articulated by Karenga, Banks, and Schlesinger. Think about your own intellectual response to the arguments presented by the authors. Print the supplemental readings and bring them to class. Write a 1 page response to the questions that follow.
