Black American women are three to four times more likely to die from childbirth than white women.
How does the third system – gender-based stratification – relate to this fact? Define and apply.
Notably, the race-based discrepancy in maternal mortality holds across class: high-income and wealthy Black American women are also at increased risk of maternal mortality. What is your hypothesis (or educated guess) for why income/wealth-based advantages do not protect Black women from this risk?
