Am 1 Not I A Man and a Brother Painting
Instructions
Place an Artistic Object into the Artistic Cauldron – art object that you want to position in conversation with either .
The alt-final must be written MLA format 12 pnt 2.0 spacing TimesNR with a bibliography to cite your sources.
the artistic cauldron should be written in the same fashion as the others. You must find an art piece (of any form) of your choosing and examine it in relation to the reading. However given that this is a final there are some changes:
The art piece should be examined in a sophisticated fashion. Instead of writing on the Discussion Board you must attach a word document that displays a still image of the art work you are focusing on. Under the image should be your written work that closely interrogates the art piece and how it connects to 3 texts that we read in class. No additional outside sources are encouraged. You must include quotes from the text, and like any formal analysis your examination must have a theme/argument or thesis that centralizes your point.
*You guys completed so many artistic cauldron posts you should get the objective by now, but I will still provide further insight*
Your paper structure:
Provide the still image of the art piece
Create an introduction that summarizes what the art is doing. Who is in it? Who is the artist? Why is it significant? Impact? Historical background? Etc? Include a thesis that provides an overall outline to your assignment.
*For instance, this art piece harkens back to themes of african spirituality, ritual practice and voodoo*
Include three body paragraphs. Each paragraph should include one of the three in- class texts that supplement your analysis. 2-3 quotes should be pulled from each text so you can contextualize. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE A SUMMARY OF THE TEXT. Look back at your notes on the readings.
Conclusion: Synthesize what you wrote.
Bibliography: cite your sources: the 3 texts and the art piece.
Your work should be 2-3 pages long. Don’t go over if you don’t have to. This assignment is not intended to be stress inducing but easy since you guys have already put this assignment into practice throughout the quarter.
