Questions for Yahoo – A New HR Challenge Case

1. Given the change in the environment, how does the HR Strategy of Yahoo need to change as it moves forward? What roadblocks are they likely to encounter?

2. Pick 3 of the 5 areas (hiring, job design, retention, training and development, compensation and benefits). Identify 1 change that needs to be made to the particular area. Be specific, that is, do not just state what needs to be changed but also how it needs to be changed. Discuss why the change needs to be made and any discuss potential sources of resistance to the change.

3. Assuming that the prediction made on page 9 of the case is correct, that Yahoo will need to rely less on advertising for revenue and more on additional services, how will this affect HR at Yahoo.
