This project will count for 10% of your overall grade for this course. Be sure to read all the instructions and assemble all the necessary materials before you begin. You will need to complete either Option A or Option B—Not both of them in a word processing document. Just add as many pages as you need to this document and upload it when you are finished.
Option A: Democratic Governments
You will write an essay of at least of 500 to 700 words in length. See the tools under your Web Resources link in the online course for help in writing essays and citing sources. In your essay, answer the following question:
Of the societies that you studied in Units 2 and 3, which one did the most to encourage democratic government? Remember that “democratic” means representative—a system in which people have a voice in their government.
⦁ Explain the government you are discussing.
⦁ How did it function, and who could participate?
⦁ What changes made the society more democratic?
⦁ Are any of these changes reflected in modern society?

Your essay will be graded on the accuracy and completeness of its content, and the readability of your content presentation. You are responsible for the accuracy of any URLs you may include. You may also include pictures and drawings if you wish, as long as you cite your sources.
