Theatre nerds

Instructions
“Theatre Nerds” – I’m sure most of you have heard this term before. It is usually used to describe high school/college students who are involved with the drama department at school. They don’t just take one class or perform in one play; they are always hanging out at the theatre. Most , if not all of their friends do theatre.
Who are these people?
One thing about the theatre that I truly love is that there’s a place for anybody and everybody in the theatre. A lot of times this is where the students come who don’t want to play sports, don’t consider themselves to be attractive, popular, or particularly talented. But when they come to the theatre they are welcomed, given a paint brush, a broom, or maybe even the role of the police officer who comes onstage in the last act and has only one line. . .it just so happened that he/she fit perfectly into the costume:)
The theatre is a home – a family. I have seen students’ lives completely change because of what they have learned, especially about themselves,
It’s not perfect – there’s competition, and heart-break, but isn’t that everywhere?
For this assignment you’ll be watching a documentary called Trust: Second Acts in Young Lives.
You’ll find it at Link
(Links to an external site.)
.
Use the following questions as a guide for writing a short paper (2 pages) about this piece.
Some of the class participants in the film admit that they haven’t told people that they’re taking this class.
Why is this?
Why are they even participating in the class? It’s after school – optional – they don’t have to do it.
What did you think about the process?
Everyone submitting a story to share
Developing a play out of one of those stories
how was the play developed
What did you think of the rehearsal process (this is when the director works with a few actors at a time, scene by scene).
Was anyone in the group changed by the experience
Share any other thoughts you might have
