• preparing a PowerPoint presentation (three to four minutes long, with text, graphics, and narration)
In the paper or presentation, teach a grammatical concept of your choice (from the list below and different from concepts you have written about before) to an audience of first-semester UMGC students.
Suggested topics:
• Functions of single-word nouns and/or of nouns in phrases and sentences
• Essential knowledge about verbs
• How to distinguish between adjectives and adverbs
• One or more of the three clause types (adjective, adverb, and noun)
• Sentence types (one or more of them; there are four)
• Sentence patterns (one or more of them; there are five)
• One or more sentence transformations
• Reasons to use active or passive voice
• Restrictive vs Non-restrictive elements
• One or more punctuation marks
• A major sentence structure error
If you would like to write or present on a topic not listed here, please contact me with that idea so that it may be approved.
