Include the following:

  • In-text citations: When using specific information from a source include the author’s last name or title of the article in parentheses at the end of the sentence; i.e. (Zevin)
  • List of sources: Make sure that you include all relevant bibliographical information in your list of sources: Author (last name first). “Title of article” (in quotation marks). Title of book or website(in italics). Date. URL (if from the internet).

Quotations: Use quotations only when it is important for the reader to see the exact words of one of your sources. In general, this means quoting only from primary sources. Use quotations to illustrate something that you have already explained in your own words. Do not use quotations to explain things for you. Quotations will not count toward to 400- to 600-word limit.

Avoid plagiarism. Use quotation marks when appropriate and include in-text citations whenever you are using information from one of your sources. In-text citations are NOT just for quotations.
