Religion and Theology

A popular idea in the US is that religious books act as a foundation for religions. For books to act as a foundation, they would presumably need to be clear enough for people to make sense of and apply. To test the idea of how foundational the Qur’an might be for Muslims, please answer the following prompt, with attention the the selections from the Qur’an on the syllabus:
In the chapters we’re reading for class, does the Qur’an provide much guidance on how one manages his or her daily life?
(If you are familiar with the Qur’an beyond what we’re reading for class, that’s fine, but keep this essay focused only on the material that all students are accountable for.)
Evaluation Criteria:
1. Clear thesis statement and coherent argument.
2. Support any arguments you make.
3. Demonstrate your command of the English language; proofread your work, and pay attention to detail.
4. Reference the source from the Qur’an reading parts (below)
Length: 300-600 words–no more, no less.
