Problems and Solutions
This research project has two components: an annotated bibliography of all sources used or consulted, and a final draft of an 8-10 page research essay.
Topic: Problems and Solutions . Choose a problem that faces a specific audience and investigate that problem or social issue in depth. Your essay must clearly define the problem, examine its likely causes, evaluate possible solutions to that problem, propose a more correct or plausible solution, and rebut possible counterarguments to your proposal. Your proposal should frame this discussion with a type of narrative—why does this problem matter to you and me or others? Why should I care? Your argument can be theoretical or practical, on any subject matter. Your argument will consist of at least 8 pages and will use at least five scholarly sources. You will also use three other sources as needed, so long as you deem them credible. Essays shorter than 6 full pages will receive an F.
When researching, keep a running annotated bibliography of each source you use as you consult it. This will be turned in by the due date. As you look at each source, begin your annotated bibliography with the APA references entry. Then, write your notes about the source—this is your annotation. These notes should include a general summary of the source, a couple of specific quotes from the source with parenthetical citations, and an interpretation of how this information might be used in your paper. You should also specify where in your paper this material should appear. Each entry should be about one half page long, double-spaced.
The bibliography should be about five pages.
