The task is to research and write a Policy Evaluation Report.

Role Play: You are a consultant working for the hypothetical consultancy ‘Environmental Policy Solutions Inc’. There are currently no projects for you to work on so instead the Director has asked to research a particular environmental externality to develop expertise in. The task is to choose an environmental externality such as air or water pollution, litter or agricultural runoff. This issue can be sourced from newspapers, or other media, it can be local to Victoria, or Australia or even international. The objective is to evaluate the current policy to manage this environmental externality based on economic principles.

To get started here are some examples of environmental externalities and the current approaches to the issue, along with some critical analysis. You may choose one of these examples, or choose another example of a policy designed to address an environmental externality as the basis of your report.
