Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:

Evaluate the four sources of threats to patients (leadership, workforce, work processes and organizational culture) by conducting a comprehensive quality and safety assessment at the organizational level including: infrastructure for quality and safety, safety survey results, indicators selected based on Donabedian’s framework of structure, process and outcome by the organization and their impact on their performance as compared to nationally benchmarked data.
Based on the findings take one of the four sources of threats identified in the analysis and create a change project that addresses it using evidence to support the change. The change project should be able to be developed, implemented and evaluated within the timeframe of this course.
