Paper should be biblical, theological, historical, and practical.
In class we discussed the theological concept of the Kingdom of God as a unifying theme of the Bible (and the motivation for the Church). For this paper, we’d like for you to use this interpretative framework to analyze the New Testament and its historical context in Ancient Rome. Specifically, you need to argue how the Kingdom of God transformed a specific sphere of reality (person, family, nation, culture, church etc.) in the first century AD (broadly defined as 27 BC to 120 AD). For example, you can demonstrate biblically how the kingdom of God changed the Jew-Gentile relationship (ethnicity, racism, tribalism, prejudices, etc.), or how the kingdom of God elevated women in the society, or how the kingdom of God impacted the church (purpose, mission, membership, leadership etc.). Your answer must make specific connections to the Pax Romana, Roman religious practices, Ovid’s Metamorphosis, and to specific passages from the New Testament.
