Multigenre Research Project
Using your research topic, you will conduct a multigenre research project in which you write at least 10 pieces of writing that flow together as one document. You will be expected to write each piece using the writing process and to participate in writing workshops to revise and edit each piece. You will also submit a reflection about your writing process.
In an effort to simplify this project we are breaking this down into steps with separate due dates.
Part One: Planning and Preparation
Select a topic to research that you could potentially use in your future classroom.
Look for at least three reliable sources of information pertaining to your topic.
Create a plan of writing in which you tentatively commit to different genres of writing.
Part Two: Write!
Write 2 narratives
Write 2 poems
Write 2 persuasive or informative pieces
Write 2 visual pieces
Write 2 pieces using technology
Part Three: Put it all together
Write your Dear Reader Letter (see criteria below).
Revisit all 10 pieces and REVISE each piece to include a repetend*.
Make sure each piece/slide/page includes a unifying element*
Write your references section in APA Format.
Write reflection.
Celebrate!
Final Project Requirements:
*Repetend: This is a word or phrase that is intentionally repeated in every piece to add an element of cohesion to the project. It should be more thoughtful than merely stating your thematic topic.
*Unifying Element: Incorporate a repeating visual element in each of your pieces. It could be a graphic, border, watermark, repeating numeral, etc. It should tie into your topic but be completely different than your repetend.
Title: Make it catchy and unique
Dear Reader Letter: You will write a letter to your reader in which you introduce the following:
your topic,
your repetend,
your unifying element
A conversational explanation of the pieces in your project and the significance of your topic and genres.
PRO TIP: Write your Dear Reader Letter last

Resources
You will submit this project in one continuous format such as Word, Powerpoint, Prezi, etc. If you use a Prezi as your delivery method, it does not count as one of your genres—unless you want to do a Prezi within a Prezi.
