Purpose of this memo: to tie all of the research, learning tools and discussions we have pursued throughout the semester as a strategic, organizational and management tool for you as you venture forth into global management positions.
Memo Instructions:
• Review your past assignments, the text, any videos and other resources you have used, referenced during the course. You will rely and apply these.
• Identify one county that we researched that you would like to focus on, become better informed about during your early global career – this means NOT using your home country – let me know your choice
• Using your identified country and your current company for this project, you will do the following:
o Designate, describe your optimal management title and position in the company for the year 2030 in the country you have selected
 Identify the job criteria i.e., create the job description that will be required of you for this global management position
 Identify the skill sets, know-how, training and education, global management experiences that you will need to have to assume this position
o Do a Hofstede values comparison between your home country and new expat country assignment
 Define and explain the differences in cultural traits and values between the two; provide a comparative graph
 List out how your management style and management methods will be impacted by the differing cultural traits and values between your home country and the new country
o Present your vision, goal and purpose for your company’s in-country operations in your newly assigned country
o Identity, describe the job’s strategic requirements that you will need to create/define, implement and manage in-country as an expat
o Identify, describe the job’s management requirements that you will need to create/define, implement and manage in-country as an expat
o Identify, describe the job’s organizational requirements that you will have to create/define, implement and manage in-country as an expat
o Identify and describe the top 3 political system disruptors that you anticipate encountering in-country
 What will you and your organization specifically do to resolve these?
o Identify and describe the top-3 economic system disruptors you anticipate encountering in-country
 What will you and your organization specifically do to resolve these?
o Identify and describe the top-3 societal disruptors you anticipate encountering in-country
 What will you and your organization specifically do to resolve these?
o Create a summary of what you hope to have accomplished in your position at the end of your 4-year assignment in 2034.
o What lasting impacts would you like to have on the organization as you depart for a new job assignment at the company’s headquarters?

Memo Format
Possible points for memo contents: 2500
 Section 1: State the goal and purpose of your memo ( 200) – this section is not bulleted; it is a brief, to-the-point introduction of what the memo is going to provide

 Section 2: Identify the objectives as laid out in the 3rd bullet of the Instructions ( 1700 ) – this section is bulleted
o Provide the action steps of how you will accomplish each of the objectives

 Section 3:Provide the summary and lasting impacts from your time in leadership and management ( 500) – this section is not bulleted. It specifically addresses the last two bullets in the memo instructions.

 Section 4 Attach your cited sources that you used throughout the memo. These must be the same as what are in the memo ( 100) .
Sample Memo Formatting with Possible Points

Date: Due date of memo (May 5, 2019)

To: The actual first name of the CEO/head of your company
From: Your first name
Subject: State the purpose/goal of your memo in a very few words

1st section/Opening paragraph: Purpose/goal of memo ( Non-bulleted Section): Get to the point in the opening paragraph recapping the purpose/goal of this memo. Be comprehensive while keeping your ideas direct, to the point and brief. Make it easy to understand. Do NOT do a review of the company’s history or products/services –the CEO already knows all this information. ( 200 possible points)

2nd/Middle Section — Bulleted Section containing the objectives and how each objective can be resolved through action steps ( 1700 possible points)

3rd/Third Section: Summary and lasting impacts. Non-bulleted ( 500 points possible)
4th/Fourth Section: References (APA is fine) Cited – These must be current (latter 2018and 2019) and the same as in the middle/2nd section of the memo. If they are not the same, they will not be counted. ( 100 points possible)
