journal prompt
Instructions
Please read carefully Instructions, and follow all steps. In the end please check grammar and style as well.
Please carefully read everything here before responding to the journal prompt. Note that I have updated the deadline, pushing it from Wednesday to Friday.
• The following entry prompts are NOT options from which to choose; you must respond to them ALL as instructed below, and upload ALL entries in ONE MS Word Document. (Converters from other formats are online, and MS Office is free to all students via the Bookstore.)
• Name your document using your last name followed by ‘J2’. (For example, if your name is Jane Doe, save your MS Word doc as ‘Doe J2’.)
• I do not suggest that you draw on external sources (beyond assigned material), but if you do, you must cite these sources. When citing the course reader, the page number or range in brackets is sufficient. If you cite my slides, include my last name along with slide number/range.
• Use the subheadings here in your own entries.
Each journal entry assignment can be completed by any competent and engaged student in one sitting, though of course you might want to give it more time. The entry does not require an introductory paragraph, a concluding paragraph, or anything like a 5-paragraph structure. In fact, you should avoid paragraphs that are too general or trivial (that don’t make specific, productive contributions to the assignment). You may use first-person pronouns. You may use bullet points when appropriate. You may refer to events or discussions in class. You may certainly express confusion, but in such a case you are encouraged to investigate and explain the source of that confusion. Your writing should be clear, non-trivial, and to the point.
