History

How revolutionary was the American Revolution? In other words, how different was the United States at the conclusion of the Revolutionary Era than it was at the beginning?

Please note: For the purpose of this essay, “American Revolution” and “Revolutionary Era” refer to the years 1776-1791—that is, from the publication of Thomas Paine’s Common Sense to the ratification of the United States Constitution and the passing of the Bill of Rights.

In your answer be sure to:

1. Directly answer the question in bold font with a thesis statement.

2. Use specific examples from the reading. Please use at least two (2) quotes from different primary sources.

3. Cite the sources that you use in your answer.

4. You must use at least two primary sources in your essay. You have the following sources: Thomas Paine, John and Abigail Adams, Federalist 51, PA Act for Abolition, and the US Constitution. Zinn and Russell are secondary sources.
