After reading the three short articles on food and Shakespeare, please answer the following questions. Keep in mind your response must be two full pages and include four cited references from the articles or outside sources.
⦁ Shakespeare’s audiences ate and drank during performances of the plays. What did they eat and drink? When you go to the movies, do you eat or drink? Why do you think historically that watching plays in Shakespeare’s day and watching movies in our day compels people to eat and drink during the performance?
⦁ During Shakespeare’s day, there were never long, sustained periods of food security. Hunger could be something real and not imagined. It was an age that experienced its share of plague, food shortages, price fixing, failed crops, and food riots. It made for a very anxious populace at times. Find an article about a current food insecurity populace. (For example, google food insecurity Venezuela.) What type of human behavior occurs both politically and socially when there is food insecurity? Do you have any food insecurity in your own life?
