film review (Lin Zhao, Mao’s dictatorial regime and contemporary China’s political evolution

This is a short review of the movie “In Search of Lin Zhao’s Soul”. Please watch the film here:
Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2il-JrCC-2I
part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhonmVorwX0
This review you are going to write will be combined with 2 more reviews of different films(called The Chinese Mayor, Vote For Me) to create a 1 program of virtual film festival.

Here is the brief explanation of the theme. Please build your arguments towards this theme:
The three films each represent a stage in the contemporary china’s political evolution: from the past’s dictatorial regime, to today’s authoritarian regime, and to the people’s imaginations for a democratic regime. Accordingly, the film reviews must focus on the type of regime that the film is trying shed light on: dictatorial regime for In Search of Lin Zhao’s Soul, authoritarian regime for The Chinese Mayor, and a (potential) democratic regime for Please Vote For Me
The film reviews must discuss the temporal context: the dictatorial regime is in the past (ie. Maoist era from 1950s to 1970s), the authoritarian regime is current (ie. from 1980s to now), and the (potential) democratic regime is a vision for the future.
In this way, there will be a stronger link between our three films and hence make our program more coherent.

Here are the things you need to include in the review:
The review should include a short summary, highlighted issues, important messages, why the film is important, and how the film is relevant to the theme.
No need to include information like filmmaker, time, year, country, language, company etc. because I have got those already.

Please use proper grammar. It does not have to be in fancy words, but please write a thoughtful review since its only 300 words long.
