Sara Hughes argues in “Flint, Michigan, and the Politics of Safe Drinking Water in the United States,” that the Flint Water Crisis “demonstrates that safe drinking water provisions is only partly a technical problem; it is also a fundamentally social and political one that requires funding and supporting local government in ways that ensure their capacity to build and maintain infrastructure, provide reliable services, and sustain meaningful dialogue and engagement with their residents” (p.2).

Please evaluate Hughes’ argument. In so doing, be sure to touch on the implications for how the United States should approach providing safe drinking water.
