Topic: RDE for Selling More Stuff
Most consumers have opinions about products or services and are often willing to share their thoughts with other consumers and the company. Moskowitz and Gofman indicated that while consumers are happy to share their thoughts about existing items and previous experiences, they often do not know what they want or lack the ability to articulate exactly what they want. After reading chapters 1–3 in Selling Blue Elephants, respond to the following questions:
How does rule developing experimentation (RDE) help marketers to identify what consumers want?
Pick one of the following company case studies: Maxwell House, Vlasic, or Prego. What did the company learn from RDE?
RDE can be applied effectively to many products outside of the food industry. Provide an example of how RDE can be used in another industry. How does RDE help the company to sell more product?
As Christians, we are called to always be prepared to give a reason for our faith (1 Peter 3:15). How does RDE align with the concept of “being prepared to give a reason?”
