Cultural Health Care Needs
Instructions:
• Create a poster that includes an analysis and evaluation of a current health issue for
a population group that may experience health disparities that you have discussed in
this subject (eg Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, refugees, migrants,
LGBTIQ+).
• Prepare a short speech approximately 2 minutes to teach others about the findings
presented in your poster.
Your poster should include:
• What the health issue is, why it is a problem for your population group and strategies
that may be implemented to address this.
• Creatively demonstrate a synthesis of your information.
• Be supported by academic resources (you can use footnotes for this and have a
separate reference list – images should be referenced appropriately).
Visual specifications:
• Should be visually appealing;
• Be organised in a logical fashion
• Include both visual and text content
• Can be printed or hand-made
• Should be at least A3 in size
The week 13 tutorial is designed to be similar to that of an art exhibition. The posters will
be displayed around the classroom and you will have opportunities for peer learning by
verbally teach a small number of students from your group about your findings (you will be
allocated into small groups to discuss your poster – approximately 3 students).
You will be assessed on your ability to creatively portray your understanding of the
population group health issue you have chosen. You do not need to have the most
professionally printed poster, rather one that clearly demonstrates understanding and
educates others. You will also be assessed on how well you can share your knowledge with
others (peer review) and how you demonstrate respect and culturally safe behaviour.
