Compare and contrast “homeschooling” & “public Schooling”
INSTRUCTIONS:
This Comparison-Contrast Essay exemplifies a writer’s efforts from and work on the C-C outline. (MLA format is required for the essay.)
Criteria
1. consistent use of third person point of view throughout the essay
2. consistent use of present throughout the essay
3. omission of contractions
4. employment of the semicolon — three times in different paragraphs among the five-paragraph essay
5. employment commas, appropriately
6. use of varying coordinating conjunctions and conjunctive adverbs to communicate major ideas
7. use of varying subordinating conjunctions and relative pronouns to communicate minor ideas
8. use of varying forms of participial and appositive phrases — at least two different structures for both in different paragraphs among the five paragraph essay
9. omission of colloquial and informal language
10. MLA format of essay–MLA heading and pagination; centered and creative and relevant title; indention; double spacing; Times New Roman text; font size-12
11. clear and specific expression of both purposes–comparison and contrast–thesis points in Introduction and/or Body Paragraphs — The analyses must be clearly detailed in the essay.
12. clear and specific topic sentence in (or beginning) Body Paragraphs: topic purpose(s) thesis point
13 original piece of writing that details/builds an analysis, through the use of language (synonyms and transitions) that reflect both purposes–comparison and contrast
14. select the organizational structure–block or point-by-point style–that communicates the analyses explicitly and uniquely
15. choose your own topic and be creative with it
