B. Choose three characters: show how the above underlined concepts manifest themselves in the lives of the characters living within the space of Piazza Vittorio.
1. If you read the novel carefully, starting with the title, you know that a decision to leave one’s own socio-cultural space for another place means that you will inevitably have to face the “unknown”: the inevitable consequences presented by a different way of interacting with people and institutions.
1. Please note: What I gave you is just the topic. You have to formulate a “thesis statement” that expresses your interpretation of that topic applied to the three characters you choose.
2. Even though you all know the necessary elements that an academic paper requires,
a. Each paragraph should have a “topic sentences” or “main idea” that calls for the best details from the pages of novel for support.
b. Each paragraph should also have a closing sentence showing that in fact you have “explained”—rendered explicit—what you stated in the topic sentence.
c. The paper should end with a short closing paragraph stating that—as the closing sentence of the paragraphs did—you have shown how the three characters have dealt with “change” and “crises”.
