Internet and global business communications
The Internet has become the engine of the developed economies. Developing nations
are also becoming more dependent on the Internet as well. The term “e-business” was
coined by IBM’s marketing team in 1996, at the start of the phenomenon. E-business
is based on integrating the internal and external commercial systems of the business
across the entire value chain.
The Boston Consulting Group (2010) ranked Denmark as the highest participant on
the “e-intensity index”. It is followed by Japan, South Korea and Holland. Their report
also noted that Britain was a net exporter of e-commerce goods and services, exporting
around £2.80 for every £1.00 imported. In the offline economy the reverse is true with
the UK only exporting £0.90 for every £1.00 imported.Impact of New Technology on International Marketing
