Response To Two Contemporary Plays: Proof and Really Really
This response paper is worth 15 points or 15% of your final grade in this course. A hard copy of this paper is due in class on 9/23.
Read Proof and Really Really. As you are reading each play, consider the following questions. After you have read and responded to both plays, write a 4-page paper crafting your answers into an essay.
1) Every play asks a question of its audience. This is the point of the play or the question the playwright is asking you to consider about your own life or current society. If you had to boil each play down to one question, what would you say each playwright is asking with each play? Write this in question form and support your idea with examples from the text.
2) Describe the specific scene or moment in each play when you felt the most engaged with the characters and their conflicts. Why was this scene so engaging?
3) Choose one role from each play that you would you most like to perform. Why? What interests you about him/her? Describe the qualities/characteristics of the character to which you can personally relate or would enjoy exploring as an actor.
To receive full credit for this assignment:
* Do not write plot summary
*Italicize play titles
*Write an introductory paragraph that includes an engaging first sentence
*Write a conclusion paragraph
*Use specific examples from the plays to support your opinions
*Use correct spelling and grammar
*Write sentences that are clear and easy to understand
