Abstract: In one paragraph, summarize the importance of the topic you are writing about. Answer the question: Why is it worth noting?
You would start with the concise, general definition of your topic. In this section, you can mention the basic -without going into the details- information and statistics about your pathology. F/x: Breast cancer is the second most common cancer among women.
Intro: You must begin with the definition of condition from the article you choose from CINAHL. You would quote the definition and use the internal citation for it – first internal citation!
Now you would go into the details about statistics: the percentage of affected in the US and worldwide. Race, gender, age disparity, if applied. Comparison of affected people for the past five years. Cost of screening and treatment, cure rate. If the cost of therapy is high, you could mention it in the abstract – it is an essential indication for the research. You would briefly mention in this part about the latest research, whether it was successful or not.
All your stats will come from CDC, WHO, and NIH. DO NOT CITE ON THEM internally! and do not use acronyms for those organizations. These are the poor signs of writing skills. Instead, use the next style: According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, …………… You would paraphrase the info from those resources.
Body: You would begin this section with the basic overview, clinical symptoms, and signs: it must come from the CINAHL. It should be in one paragraph, formed by 5-6 sentences. You would paraphrase information from your chosen article and use the article’s internal citation at the end of the section. It would be your second internal citation!
The most important part of the RP for you is to describe the normal, gross, and microscopic anatomy and physiology of your organ. For example: if you write about melanoma, mention the function of the skin. Describe the skin’s macro- and microscopic anatomy and how it is related to the pathology you choose. F/x: if you write about Down syndrome. You would mention cell biology in great detail, especially the nucleus, its anatomy (parts), physiology (function), cell division (mitosis), chromosomes – how many humans nave, what is the normal set for female and male, which one is affected in Down and how. What are the major complications of Down syndrome? What is the cause of death in these patients? The green part must come from the Lab manual or E-text WileyPlus – third internal citation.
Then you would mention the life- span and lifestyle for Down syndrome. Did it change for the past 40-20 years? Pathology description would come from the article – fourth citation.
Conclusion: what have you learned from this assignment? What can you do to make a difference? This another crucial part of the RP for you as a student. I would like to hear your thoughts. Do put a cliché; write from the heart.
