Assignment, Theory and Benefits

There are two parts for this assignment and should all fit into two pages, Please Separate both answers for each part

1 – The main focuses this week is on the dominant theoretical perspectives used by sociologists. Each student is to come up with an example of how one of the classical theories could be used today to analyze an issue in society. Guidelines are as follows:

Clearly identify and explain the core concepts of a chosen theoretical perspective (I chose Conflict Theory by Karl Marx). (This is you demonstrating that you understand the perspective.)
Use an example of how you can use the perspective to understand something relevant today (I chose the Black Lives Matter Movement). (This is you showing you understand how to use the perspective)

2 – I want you to describe what you think sociologists do and why they do it.

Once you have done this, you are asked to reflect on how thinking like a sociologist may benefit you right now (this could be in other classes, your job, personal life, etc.) and explain how you could implement it into your life.
These responses should be 200-300 words and due by Sunday, Sep 20th
