‘Construction work on a green field site uncovers the foundations of a rectangular stone structure. Just beside the foundations, in a patch of boggy ground, the remains of timber beams are uncovered. In evaluating its archaeological significance, the site archaeologist needs to find out how old the stone structure is. Discuss how dating techniques help resolve the question.’
