A biography of Jay-Z’s entrepreneurial

Assume the reader has never heard of the subject of your biography – give a
brief introduction that tells the reader who the entrepreneur is, their field of interest, motivations and
perhaps highlights a significant accomplishment.
Background: Provide details of the entrepreneur’s life that are relevant to their entrepreneurial activity.
If you give a date or place of birth, or details about parents, schooling etc, make it clear why they are
important, how these background elements contribute to the entrepreneur’s character. For example,
someone born in 1995 will have different perspectives than someone born in 1955, but how did this
translate into their entrepreneurial interests? This section should be brief and may not be necessary at
all.
Body of the Paper: Describe several of the entrepreneur’s ventures, activities or accomplishments. Put
these into an appropriate context with research on the industry, economy or social situation at the time.
Relate the entrepreneur’s actions to course concepts, such as opportunity recognition, minimum viable
product, the S curve etc. Your paper should include multiple entrepreneurial traits and multiple
entrepreneurship concepts but each should be included in a way that makes clear what the trait or
concept is and how it fits into the subject’s biography. Rather than stating that the subject started a
business, describe the circumstances of the founding in such a way that demonstrates traits of the
entrepreneur or aspects of the entrepreneurial process. Avoid straight definition, instead explain how an
action illustrates the concept. Tie the various activities/accomplishments together to enhance the
readers understanding of the entrepreneur.
Concluding paragraph: Provide your key learning from this person and their new venture(s). What did
you learn about entrepreneurship from writing this paper?
Voice
By definition, a biography is written in third person. The conclusion may be first person, as you are
providing your impressions.
Format
This is a 1,000 word assignment (approximately 4 double spaced pages, but use the count from your
text software); format should follow font sized 12, double spaced and one inch margins all around.
Headings, references and figures are not included in the word limit. Sections of the assignment that go
substantially beyond the word limit will not be read or graded. Course concepts can be highlighted in
yellow.
Source citations
Any statement that is a fact or was originally made by someone other than the student author of the
paper (i.e. you) needs to be referenced. In-text citations, or footnotes are required for each statement.
Use APA style (consult the library if you require guidance on how to do this – there is a way to
reference interviews you have conducted). Academic excellence requires the use of a variety of sources
– > use more than one or two.
