Comparative Report Instructions
Your Comparative Report must address the following three points:
1. Comparison
Identify the similarities and differences between your report and the expert report. this can be presented in dot points or a table (approx. 100 words).
2. Reflection on learning
Identify and justify what you believe are the strengths and limitations of your report compared to the expert response (approx. 200 words). In this section you will be required to reflect on your student response and the expert response and demonstrate what you have learnt:
Some examples (note that these are examples only – you may discuss any relevant strengths and limitations):
You may have discussed one of the examples of care that relates to patients with bowel cancer, but not identified a holistic approach to Matthew’s care.
The expert response may have identified aspects of care for a patient with bowel cancer that you did not recognise. How has this enabled you to consider the effects of these concepts on such patients, and your broader approach to patients with oncology needs?
After reviewing the expert response, you may believe that you have prepared a clear, succinct, comprehensive and accurate response therefore you need to justify this using the literature
Briefly state how the expert response consolidated and/or challenged your previous knowledge and understanding of the aspect of practice you investigated. Clearly state the main idea you are taking away from this assignment.
3. Impact on you as a student and future graduate nurse
Discuss how the identified aspects of care of oncology patients impact your clinical practice as a future graduate nurse. In your response, make at least one recommendation that you will try to implement in your future practice. (approx. 200 words)
Other requirements
Do not write an introduction or conclusion
You are not required to include references, but if you choose to, please provide a reference list at the end of your comparative report, including all cited sources.
The overall word count for this submission (iSAP Part B) is 500 words. You will need to be concise in your responses to each section [see the marking rubric on the next page of this case book for suggestions] but you can write more in some sections and less in others as long as your total is within the word count.
