Mikey’s Story
Young Mikey is four years old and is already obese for his age and size. Mikey lives with his mother and father and does not have any siblings. He goes to all day kindergarten. When he comes home he is often irritable and very difficult to deal with. The only thing that doesn’t seem to set him off is playing video games and watching TV. He hears the other kids playing outdoors but he knows that he won’t be included anyways. His parents have learned that it is easier to give him his own way then confront him which usually ends in a temper tantrum. Mikey is uninterested in any extracurricular activities and has no friends as he is frequently teased at school for his size and lack of athletic ability. He prefers to be by himself. You are working on a team that is trying to identify possible solutions to the issues that are arising as a result of this lifestyle.
