Problems of U.S. political system
During the course of this semester you will be introduced to social problems that have been studied and examined in great detail. Despite this fact, often times coming up with workable solutions to solve these problems are never really attempted in the real world. Many times, this is because viable solutions have been discounted as politically unfavorable, or economically unfeasible. In some cases, the possible solution to a social problem may also breach long held social conventions or norms, or the solution may be deemed morally questionable. Regardless of whatever reasons that previous efforts may have failed or faltered in tackling these issues, I still want to give you the student, an opportunity to foster your own ideas and answers for how we can go about solving some of these social problems. We will never know whether or not we can make a change in the world unless we try. That said, the solutions that you present must be within the realm of our known physical reality. (i.e., no alien technology, no comic book heroes, and no mystical or occult hocus pocus:) This assignment will be a two-part project. You will be identifying a social problem you would like to solve and writing an approximately 2-page (500 word) summary of why your topic is a social problem and what you think can be done to address it. All paper formatting will be: 12-point Times New Roman Font, double spaced, with 1-inch margins, using either MLA or APA style of citation. Word Document file type (.docx)
