Since everyone in the class should report on a different company, kindly send me your top three choices via email by Week 3, and I will do my best to give you your first choice.
2. Prepare a written paper on any aspect of HRM associated with the company. For example, you could focus on recruitment, training and development, benefits/compensation, company perks (or a combination thereof). Or you might find some interesting information that has has clearly put this company on the 100 Best list (i.e. diversity programs). Your paper should also include, in its introduction, where the company falls on the 100 list and what kind of company it is (i.e. a bank, a software company, an insurance company).
3. The paper should be prepared in MLA format and the required length is 3-5 pages. If you are not familiar with MLA format, a pamphlet can be found in CW’s library, or you may visit http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/01/. Also, visit http://www.calvin.edu/library/knightcite/ if you need help with formatting citations.
4. Each student will also be required to orally provide a brief summary of his/her findings to the class. The oral piece will account for 30% of this assignment’s grade; the written portion will account for 70% (10% grammar, 10% organization, 20% proper use of MLA format, 30% content).
5. The written paper must be submitted by the last night of the class. Oral presentations will also take place the last night of the class.
