Favoritism in hiring and promotion
During the course, you will do two in-depth reports on topics related to ethics in human resources. You will research your topics and write a paper about them. The topics will come from a list developed during the first class and posted on Canvas. Your report is to consist of the following:
A three to four page paper (not counting the cover page and reference list) which outlines the major components of the topic. The paper should have an opening paragraph and summary paragraph and should be in APA format. You should not write an abstract.
A list of the resources (minimum of five reputable resources) you used in your report on the Reference sheet. At least two should come from material outside the SHRM website. At least two others should come from juried publications. Resources such as Wikipedia, dictionaries, etc., should not be used as references.
100 points
Up to 10 points for cover sheet
Up 10 points for references
Up to 5 points for reference list
Up to 5 points for using APA correctly in paper
Up to 10 points for general writing, including logical arrangement and structure and lack of writing and grammatical errors.
Up to 10 points for introductory paragraph which presents topic to be covered and invites readers to follow through the paper
Up to 40 points for body of paper which contains adequate supportive information which covers the issues involved.
Up to 10 points for concluding paragraph
The first report will focus on recruiting, selection, hiring, staffing and some compensation issues.
