Protection in U.S. Law for LGBT Individuals
If you are interested in legal issues in US, you could examine protection in U.S. law for LGBT individuals or women fearing FGM for themselves or their daughters or women who break societal customs or laws in their home countries, etc.
If you are more interested in international situations, you could choose one country and examine the situation of girls and/r women who have been displaced (preferably looking at a specific issue, such as access to education, reproductive health, livelihoods, sexual and gender based violence, etc.
Another issue is the intersection of displacement and environmental change through a gender lens. An example would be the use of firewood for cooking, which has environmental consequences as well as serious harms to those exposed to the smoke or violence while foraging for firewood. Or you could look at secondary displacement of refugees and IDPs cause of flooding or other natural hazards that affect where they are living as exiles from their own communities.
