Also reply to the following 2 post in a few short sentences.
1) The two words of “integrity” and “efficiency” are two closely related words in the realm of Public Administration and are really the factors that decide on the performance of these workers. To go even further corruption from public workers is based on their integrity, which in turn determines their efficiency. There are different forms of corruption such as a minor form like waste, then transitioning into more severe offenses such as fraud and abuse. It is important to understand this, as it is essential to the understanding of efficiency. This is because productivity, what efficiency seeks to measure, (Harris, Lecture 4, S 19) is affected by corruption. Waste, fraud, and abuse all contribute to inefficiency and make life more difficult to the public. This is where integrity kicks in, as a public servant with superior morals will contribute less to this inefficiency.
2) Integrity and efficiency are closely tied together in the world of Public Administration. These two words are also closely tied to the concept of corruption. If a worker has no integrity, then the likely hood of corruption is high. The integrity of a worker also ties with the efficiency of the worker. Corruption has many levels, with the worst being fraud. Productivity, which is what efficiency measures, is affected by corruption and the integrity of the worker (Harris, Lecture 4, S 2 & 19). Corruption and inefficiency directly affects the public, making life more difficult. As a public servant, it is important to show characteristics of integrity and efficiency. An example of this is the Watergate scandal. President Nixon showed a lack of integrity and instead showed major signs of corruption. This led to his eventual resignation, as he lost the trust of the American people. Trust from the public is a major asset when it comes to being a public servant and if you don’t possess integrity and efficiency, it will be very hard to gain and keep that trust.
