The Spanish-American War
Continuity of Ideas: Provide a continuity of ideas, both between different parts of your essay and within specific sections. Help an audience follow your arguments (you have a voice in this course). Be critical and analytical. And remember: every new paragraph must cover and interpret a new, single point, meaning there is no need to unite points in one paragraph.
A Writer’s Voice: Writing assignments related to academic purposes do not imply the usage of a 1st person narrative (like ‘I’/’you’). Thus, use a neutral, third-person, tone trying to emphasize the findings with the help of evidence and opinions collected from the reading assignment.
You are required to complete 3 writing assignments throughout the semester to receive a complete grade in the course. Each assignment is designated to a subject within a module and should be between 600 – 900 words (or between 2-3 pages), double spaced, in Times New Roman (12-point) font with one inch margins all around (please use the MLA format when citing your sources). Failure to meet these requirements will result in 0 credit for the assignment.
Assignment 1: Do you agree or disagree with the assertion that colonial expansion into the Pacific Ocean was the logical extension of Manifest Destiny? Support your answer with three examples from the documentary on the Spanish-American war
