Article Critique
Critique the article and write a critical analysis on it. A good critical analysis starts with a brief summary of the article and a discussion of the author’s purpose, argument, and the main debate they are entering. The summary does not need to be comprehensive, but rather, concise and accurate. In other words, this should not take up more than 1⁄4 of your paper. Then, for the remainder of your essay, closely and carefully engage with the text and write an analysis focused on evaluating audience, clarity, evidence, tone, discipline, and structure. Moreover, your analysis should make an argument and evaluate the work’s effectiveness, including an evaluation what it does well and what it does poorly. Throughout your analysis, make sure to provide specific evidence and support from the text, including quotes and close reading. You will work solely with your chosen text; no outside research is necessary.
Requirements:
• Proper in-text citations and a full citation in your chosen format. MLA is standard in English (and all samples/instructions will assume MLA) but if you are familiar with another citation style from your own field of study, you may use it here. However, remember to indicate (at the time of submission) which style you are using. i.e. APA, Chicago etc.
• You are required to write 4 pages minimum, doubled spaced, Times New Roman 12 point font.
