Human Resource Management analysis

Scenario and Activity You have been given an opportunity to shadow the Human Resource officer for an organisation of your choice. You are encouraged to use your own place of work, if appropriate. Your Officer has been tasked with leading on the restructuring of the Human Resources department as part of organisational change.
The Human Resources (HR) department will be restructured based on the findings of a review report, which you have been asked to complete and submit it to your HR officer. You are to review the effectiveness of the HR function within the organisation, researching the role and scope of HR and reviewing and assessing the main HR functions within the organisation. This has to be submitted as a report.
Within the report you are required to include the following:
1. An overview of the organisation.
2. An explanation of the purpose of the HR functions and the key roles and responsibilities of the HR functions to your chosen organisation.
3. Critically evaluate the strengths and weakness of different HRM practices within your chosen organisation for both the employer and employee.
4. An assessment of the approach to workforce planning and resourcing, recruitment and selection, development and training, performance management and reward systems with reference to your chosen scenario.
5. Explain the benefits of different HRM practices with reference to raising organisational profit and productivity.
6. Analyse and evaluate the effectiveness of employee relations and employee engagement, and comment on the adoption of flexible organisation and flexible working practices and ‘employer of choice’.
7. Identify the key areas of employment legislation within which the organisation must work and analyse and evaluate the impact these have upon decision making.
8. Ensure your report concludes with some critical evaluation of HRM practices that have influenced the decision making with concert examples for the chosen organisation. Ensure to assess the different methods used in HRM practices supported with some critical evaluation of HRM practices for scenario given at the start of Section 1. Make sure you refer to the learning outcomes and assessment criteria given at the end of the assessment brief.

Learning Outcome LO4 Apply Human Resource Management practices in a work-related context
Scenario and Activity
Using the above scenario as specified in Section 1 above, continue to use for activity two in the Human Resources (HR) department of your selected chosen organisation. You have now been asked to take part in testing the new recruitment and selection process. You are further asked to design a job specification for an HR Assistant role and then you will take part in an interview simulation for a job role advertised by another team. Please note although you are working as a team please note this task needs to be submitted individually.
The aim of this task is to test the recruitment and selection process and each of you to complete an individual document portfolio to be submitted as part of the overall work and attached as annex. The portfolio should include:
• The design of a job specification for one of a number of given positions in the organisation.
• A CV for each student, tailored to apply for one of the positions advertised by the other team member.
• Documentation of preparatory notes for interviews, to include interview notes based on selection criteria and a justified decision of the candidate selected.
• A job offer to the selected candidate.
• An evaluation of the process and the rationale for conducting appropriate HR practices. Assignment Submission Format (Portfolio Structure)
• The work should be prepared in individual portfolio folder as guided by your tutor.
• Clear headings and subheadings should be included.
• The portfolio should aim to Illustrate the application of HRM practices in a work-related context, using specific examples based on the selected organisation of your choice.
• Across the individual portfolio folder you are required to provide various examples to enhance the credibility, currency and depth of the answer.
• You are also required to support your answer by academic and professional sources as well as statistics when relevant
• Use Appendices (if any)
• Use the Harvard Referencing Style for in text citation and reference list.
• Provide a reference list using the Harvard referencing system.
• Respect the word limit of 1000 words for Report Activity 2 ( /- 10%) excluding the cover page, contents page, list of references and appendices.
