Reading Response Essay 2 should focus on either “Sonny’s Blues” by James Baldwin or “The Conscience of the Court” by Zora Neale Hurston. You may also develop a thesis comparing the two stories. Response essays should be a minimum of 400 words, but brief essays that are close to the minimum must be very focused and well-presented to get full points. Among other criteria, these essays should use a formal, academic tone that seeks to present a unique interpretation. You should adhere to MLA 8 style guidelines.
