Task
Write a short essay (1500 words) on ONE of the topics listed below. The essay topics are designed to enable you to bring together the theological, biblical and ecclesial themes considered in the unit, and to consider the implications of the sacraments for Christian life.
Assessment topic
Marriage has been described as “a sign of love that opens a person to include rather than exclude, becoming in this way a sign of God’s love that is open to all.”3 Discuss in detail the Church’s understanding of marriage as sacramental and consider the implications of the sacrament for Christian life. In your response, engage contemporary literature to describe the biblical, ecclesial, and theological dimensions of sacramental marriage.
Structuring your essay
Your essay should have:
- An introductory paragraph outlining the topic and argument/main points of the essay;
- A body (with multiple paragraphs) in which the argument/main points of the assignment are developed. Each paragraph should have a distinct topic that contributes to your overall response to the question and develops the argument of the assignment.
